4 Ways to Avoid Flying Fees

This is a guest post written by Robert L. He contributes to FindAirlineCards, a miles credit cards site helping those save on airline tickets, as well as other travel expenditures.

Airline fees are everywhere in today’s traveling world. It seems as if everywhere you turn with the airlines, you’re going to get charged. From checking your baggage to even using the toilet, you’re going to find that the airlines are going to get a lot more from you than just your airline ticket fee. Sure, the Senate is trying to do something about it, but as you can see, not much has changed!

I wanted to list 4 steps that you can take today when you’re looking to save on your airline fees. There are ways to avoid them and as long as you know how to do your homework, you can save big!

  1. Go with the airline that doesn’t charge – There are some great airlines out there that won’t even charge you for checked in baggage fees and more. Airlines such as Southwest, as well as others can help you in that regard. Make sure you check out their website to get a full list of fees.
  2. Bring a carry on along – Since most airlines are going to charge you when you check in your luggage, you’re going to find that many of them won’t charge when you bring a carry on along. Cram as much as you can into a carry on and bring it on to avoid those pesky fees.
  3. Ship your luggage – Sure, it sounds funny but did you know that if you ship out your luggage, you can save a lot more than paying the stupid airline fees. Since a place like Delta is going to charge you $25 a bag, you can ship your bags for less than that. The great thing about this is that you’re going to be able to avoid the baggage carousel and more.
  4. Join the club – When you carry the airline’s credit card, or you’re part of their frequent flyer program, you may find that you can get the checked in bag fee waived and more. Not all airlines do this, so make sure that you research what their rules are.

By following these tips, I can assure you that you can avoid some of the fees. Don’t just buy a ticket anymore simply because it’s cheap. You’re going to have to add in fees and so much more, so don’t forget about this!
